U.S. Forest Service Visitor Center

Burgess Junction

Designers of the U.S. Forest Service’s Visitor’s Center at Burgess Junction came to Austine and Polage in order to use the educational or question/answer aspect of the medium. In each of the pairs of images below, you see a Polage the way a visitor encounters it first, and then next to it, the way it appears through the visitor’s hand-held viewer.

A Study: Strange shapes among the trees in Burgess Junction. 1st image, without filter, shows the tree.

The question is answered by the storms viewed through the polarizing filter.

Finally, turning the filter another way, the piece shows the same setting in a more peaceful moment.
