Irrefutable Paradox of Being

This unique free-standing interactive sculptural work came out of a period in the 1980’s in which I was reading a lot of Jung. I was thinking about the unconscious and the meaning of images that relate to each other in a dream-like way. The concept of the work reflects the idea that we view the world both directly and indirectly, making both conscious and unconscious decisions. As you walk around this sculpture, the images on the inner triangle appear through the polarized rectangles on the outer triangle. The images also appear as reflections on the inner surface of the outer triangle. I made this without any preliminary drawing, starting at the bottom and working upwards, creating images in a stream of consciousness.
