Here, a Botticelli Venus becomes a modern Venus, idealized beauty in contemporary context contrasted with that of the 15th and 16th Centuries. It is a commentary on society’s pressures on women to meet sometimes unattainable standards of beauty. It also depicts my love/hate attitude towards my body and the effort required to stay healthy. I run almost everyday, in some sense trying to out-run the inevitable.The image changes, not with a motor, but with electronic signals to a special liquid crystal panel specially made for this purpose.
