Spreading Your Wings
SPREADING YOUR WINGS
Mixed Polage art media, 12 inches
Edition of 12
A butterfly enjoying the fruits of her labors, as the Black-eyed Susan flowers she feeds from are pollinated by her peripatetic visits.
"The butterfly is a symbol of transcendence and the ability of the mind to soar. I see it as a reminder of the potential in all of us to be genuinely ourselves." — Austine
Butterflies are one of Austine's frequent subjects. Many of the colors in their wings are structural rather than from pigment which creates the unique quality of depth and shimmer that’s can’t be captured in photography but is perfectly suited to this medium.
